March 14th — fondly known as “314 Day” — is typically a beloved St. Louis tradition. It’s a time to celebrate the city’s rich culture, thriving businesses, and tight-knit communities. But this year, what should have been a day of joy quickly turned into one of heartbreak and destruction as a severe weather outbreak unleashed chaos across our great region.
Tornadoes Touch Down Across the Metro Area
Twelve confirmed tornadoes touched down in and around St. Louis City and St. Louis County, with communities like Arnold, Imperial, Chesterfield, Clarkson Valley, Creve Coeur, South County, and all of Jefferson County taking the brunt of the impact. Among the many structures hit, the Arnold Pasta House — a local staple — was severely damaged, a painful symbol of the destruction felt throughout our neighborhoods.
Hail Damage Adds to the Chaos
Adding to the devastation were hailstorms that pelted homes with chunks of ice ranging from one to two inches in diameter. The aftermath? Roofs riddled with damage, siding punched with holes, fascia dented, and gutters and downspouts torn apart.
